Technical Overview and Description

The FlexConnect system is an enterprise-grade IoT platform from Flex that orchestrates the movement of information between all components.

The entire system can be segregated into three major areas:

  1. IoT Platform
    • Mainly composed of hosted components, APIs and databases
    • Used to manage the below components/features:
      • Identity Management
      • OTA
      • Alerts Engine
      • Notifications
      • Configuration Manager
      • API Management
      • Data Storage
      • Device Management
  2. Admin Portal
    • A web based user interface which communicates with the IoT platform
    • Used to manage the following features:
      • Device Management
      • OTA Updates
      • Users Management
      • Reports
  3. SDK in different programming languages
    • Can be integrated with the device’s firmware
    • Requires Flex’s Agent to communicate with the actual hardware
    • The agent can be activated using the activate API and its software is used to translate and communicate data and activities from native hardware to the cloud
    • An agent UI is also built on top of SDK which can be used to interact with the system.

Portal Overview

With the web based portal; you can receive device management activities, administration and reporting.

Other key aspects of the portal include:

  • Managing of the product lines, products, & virtual products
  • Creating & managing reporting groups
  • Managing firmware updates for the devices
  • Managing OTA groups & sending over the air updates to connected devices
  • Managing users and user roles for the company
  • SDK framework providing standard framework and connections with common technology partners
